Opal Parsian Sangan Co. commissioned its iron ore pellet production factory with a production capacity of 5 million tons per year in September 2017. This factory was constructed by Sazehaye Sanatiye Azaran Company, as the domestic contractor, and TOREX engineering team.
Opal Parsian Sangan Co. has the privilege of supplying most of its needed equipment from domestic providers alongside benefiting from the most up-to-date foreign equipment.
The factory's production process has been designed to utilize the straight Traveling Grate technology. The raw pellets are produced on rotating discs after the admixture of raw materials such as iron ore concentrate, Bentonite, and Sodium hydroxide. The raw pellets are fired and hardened at the indurating furnace according to the pre-determined heating curve after two stages of primary standardizing and grading the raw pellets. After the final grading, the output of the indurating machine is sent for stockpiling or loading for road and railway transportation.
The iron ore pellets produced at Opal Parsian Sangan Co. are mainly used in direct reduction furnaces, and some of the benefits of incorporating them in the steel production cycle include reduced energy consumption for steel plants, increased performance of blast and arc furnaces, reduced environmental pollution and easier stockpiling and transporting.
